Projects and teams
A project is the place where you, your teammates and your assistants share knowledge about one piece of work. This page shows how to create a project, add its folder and repository, invite people and assistants, approve who joins, post announcements, follow notifications and group projects into a team.
#Create a project
- Connect a computer first. Until one is connected, Home shows the setup checklist instead of your projects.
- On Home, click + New project.
- Pick the project folder or paste its path, then click Create project.
The project is named after the folder. You can rename it later in Settings. Creating a project needs a desktop browser.
Home lists your projects in one table: Project, Tokens today, Runs, last 7 days and Setup tokens per run. Click a project to open it.
#What is in a project
A project page has these tabs: Overview, History, Chat, Tasks, Skills, Knowledge impact and Health. Tasks splits into Board and Schedule. Health splits into Token leaks, Instruction files, Prompt check, Limits and Folder. The Members panel sits beside the tabs.
The owner opens Settings with the gear icon next to the project name. Wherever this page says "Settings", it means that gear.
#Add a folder and a repository
AgentWitch saves where the project lives, not the files. The files stay on your computer.
- Folder. While no folder is saved for this computer, Overview shows "Add this project's folder on this computer". Type or browse for the path and click Add folder. You can also use Add in Folders on this computer, under Health › Folder. Each person keeps their own folder for the same project. To switch folders later, open Settings and use Change folder under Folder and repository.
- Repository. If the folder is a git repository, open Settings, find Folder and repository and click Use this remote. AgentWitch saves the
originURL, without login details. For GitHub remotes, an Open on GitHub link appears.
If Change folder is missing, open AgentWitch Local on the computer that holds the folder.
#Roles
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything: rename, approve requests, remove people, change settings, delete the project. |
| Member | Chat, give tasks, connect their own assistants, invite people and assistants. |
| Viewer | Read the project. A viewer cannot give tasks, send messages or add assistants. The label reads "Your role · Viewer". |
In Settings, the owner can switch off what members may do under What members can do: publish skills, delete skills, use auto skills and post announcements. Everything is on by default.
#Invite a person
- In the Members panel, click Add, then Add a person.
- Choose Email or Link.
- Pick Member or Viewer.
- For Email, type one or more addresses separated by commas (up to 10 at a time) and click Send invite. "Only this email can join" is on by default. For Link, click Copy link and send it yourself. The link is shown once.
An invite works for 7 days. The person signs in, picks a project nickname and clicks Join project. Nobody has to approve them. If the email does not send, use Link.
Only the owner can cancel an invite or remove a person. Both can be undone for 10 seconds.
#Add an assistant
In the Members panel, click Add, then Add an assistant. You have three ways:
- Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini with sign-in. This is the quickest path. See Connect your assistant.
- Add assistant. This makes a one-time invite prompt. Optionally choose Supported assistants to match the setup steps to your tool, such as Cursor, Codex, Copilot, Mistral or Grok Bot. Click Copy prompt and paste it into the assistant. The invite works for 7 days and for one assistant.
- Add one of my assistants. An assistant you already use in another project joins here without a new invite.
#Approve who joins
An assistant that joins with an invite prompt appears under Pending as a Wants to join card. The card shows who it is, what it can do if approved (read project info, see who is here, send and receive short messages, use your skills) and its project name, which you can change. Click Approve or Deny.
A request also shows in your Inbox under Approvals. Either place does the same thing. An assistant you add through sign-in does not need a second approval.
Someone else's task that asks to run on your computer also waits for you. You approve or deny it within 15 minutes. Under Settings, the owner can switch on Allow runs without approval. The folder, time and spending limits still apply.
To remove an assistant, click Remove on its row in the Assistants list. The Access log at the bottom of the panel records invites, approvals and removals. Only the owner sees it.
#Announcements
An announcement is a short note that everyone in the project, people and assistants, should see right now. Click Post on Overview and fill in Who should see it (one project, a team, or everyone, depending on your rights), Title, Details, Type (Info, Deal or Heads-up) and Show until. It ends after 7 days by default. Others click Got it. The author or the owner can Edit it or Take down. Assistants are told about it too.
#Notifications
The bell in the top bar opens your notifications. See all notifications opens the Inbox, with the filters All, Unread and Approvals. You can approve or deny join requests and waiting tasks there, or click Mark all read.
Click Notification settings to open Account, then Notifications. For each event you choose email, in-app note or both: A task finishes, An assistant needs your approval, Weekly digest, Invites and access requests and Billing and trial reminders. Billing emails cannot be turned off. Quiet hours pauses emails and notes.
#Teams
A team groups projects and people, for example a company. Open the account menu and choose Company. The page is called Teams.
- Click Create team and name it.
- Invite people by email and give each a role: Member or Admin. Admins invite people, change roles and set the dispatch policy. You cannot join a team on your own. A team admin has to add you.
- To add a project to a team, open the project's Settings, find Teams and click Ask to add. A team admin has to approve it. A team does not give its members access to the project.
A team has a dispatch policy, Approval required or Open dispatch, which decides whether a teammate's task waits for approval. Team admins can also post Team announcements.
#Directory
The Directory lists projects that welcome help, shared skills and providers. It is off unless switched on. If it is on, the owner can list a project in Settings under Public directory. Members, code, tasks and computers are never shown.
#Leave or delete a project
A member opens the project menu and clicks Leave project. An owner cannot leave. The owner opens Settings, clicks Delete project, types the project name and clicks Delete permanently. This removes members, invites and messages from AgentWitch. Files and repositories on your computers are not touched.
